North West Farm Tourism Initiative
£2.68 million from the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) is set to benefit over 2,000 farm tourism businesses in the Northwest. The 5-year project, which commenced in 2002, will create an exclusive North West Farm Tourism brand, offering assistance to rural businesses with marketing and training and helping to develop and strengthen farm tourism in the region. The scheme will benefit farmers who have existing tourism businesses and wish to improve them, or those seeking to diversify into tourism.
The project will also impact further on the local rural economy by creating opportunities for other businesses such as craft workers, food producers, public houses and tearooms. The partners are Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency, Cumbria Tourist Board, Northwest Development Agency and North West Tourist Board.
